A dock leveler is used to bridge the difference in height and distance between the warehouse floor and vehicle. The height-adjustable platform is used to ensure smooth transition between dock and truck which helps prevent forklift accidents that can cause serious injuries and forklift damage. It is usually comprised of a simple metal plate that is raised from a stowed position and then lowered onto the back of the truck.

Types of Dock Levelers
Dock levelers are available in several styles including: Pit-Style, TELESCOPING-LIP™, Edge Mount, COLDSTORAGE™, Boxcar and more.
Pit-Style – The most common type of dock leveler due to its greater operating range, load range, and life expectancy. These levelers are most often installed into pits that are formed into the concrete. The pits are sized to meet the requirements of the dock levelers being used.
Telescopic – aims to create a movable bridge between the warehouse floor and the surface of a vehicle, levelling out differences in height. The ram enables the transit of forklifts or manual lifting devices up to its maximum capacity according to the established nominal load.
Edge Mount is a simple dock to truck leveller which is situated on the edge of the dock. This is ideal for trucks with minimal height difference, or if space around the dock is a problem. It also saves space by eliminating the need to store portable plates to correct dock positions.
